BRIEF INTRODUCTION
All of the questions in the survey are related to the fundamental human right to education found in Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and related sections in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (CCRF).
UDHR asserts that everyone has the right to education... Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Discrimination mentioned in the questionnaire refers to a wide range of conditions that are provided by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which is based on: race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.
The results of the survey should provide a general sense of the school's climate in light of principles found in both UDHR and CCRF. More follow-up questions are needed to identify specific areas of concern that need to be addressed.
