International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)

This program is part of a continuing partnership with CIDA since 2004. The program empowers human rights organizations in developing countries by sending young Canadian graduates to work with organizations for a period of six months. The program also provides interns with practical work experience in an international setting.

We have specifically chosen host organizations in CIDA-eligible countries with an established track record, and whose mandates coincide with CIDA’s mandates, priority sectors and the MDGs.  In particular, we currently have excellent placement agreements and opportunities with NGOs in South Africa, Colombia, and Nepal.

In South Africa, we have placements with the School of Public Health (SOPH) of the University of Western Cape; the Health Trust Systems (HST); and the Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG). All these placements are in Cape Town, except for the SOPH which is based in Belleville, 45 minutes outside of Cape Town.

In Colombia we have placements with the Alliance for the Initiative for Peace for Women (IMP), in the capital city of Bogota.

In Nepal, we are partnered with the Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC), based in Kathmandu.
