European Human Rights System

Produced in collaboration with the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) and funded by the European Community, the European component of For the Record is organized thematically as well as by country and reviews the major human rights developments within the Council of Europe with respect to: European Convention on Human Rights; European Social Charter; European Convention for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment and its protocols; Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities; and the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance. Themes covered in the report include: Asylum; International Criminal Court; Media; Migration; Relations with the UN; Technology; and Trafficking in Persons.

Published in English and French, the report is available on HRI's Website and as a CD-ROM, and contains hyperlinks to all source documents available electronically. A bonus of the Website is the toggle feature which allows the user to compare human rights developments between countries both in the European system and UN system. For the Record: The European Human Rights System is also available in hard-copy, both in English and in French.
